The beauty, fashion & lifestyle blog of Hoang-Kim Cung

As mentioned earlier, Jonathan was being romantic and took me for brunch at Green Pastures. The estate was absolutely beautiful! There were more than 10 peacocks with vividly colored feathers and the food was marvelous. If you live in the Austin area, be sure to check this place out. The price is on the decadent side, so save up before you dine!

Soft Pastels

I don’t wear pastels very often, but this beautiful top caught my eye as I was getting dressed this morning. I adore flowers and the detailing on this top is just full of beautiful flowers. The soft pink color is laid back and delicate so I didn’t want to overwhelm it by throwing on anything dark, so pale blue jeans were the way to go. I was afraid the jeans might be stifling under the Texas sun, so cuffing the bottom did the trick.

Can anyone tell that these Gianni Bini wooden platform sandals are my favorite for summer? These shoes are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in! I don’t even have to undo the straps to put them on, yet they fit snug around my ankles. I’ve also started re-reading Everything Is Illuminated. It’s such a beautiful book.

And, I finally learned how to Dutch Braid!!! (sort of) I decided to give the braid headband a try today. Not too shabby, right?

Since we’re on the topic of flowers, I got these fuchsia carnations at Costco!

Gold & Navy

I don’t think there is a better color combination than gold and navy blue. I think there is something very regal, refined, and somehow romantic about these two colors together. The ruffles on the navy blue blouse pair well with the gold brocade skirt, creating a dimensional look. This look can be dressy or casual, which is an added bonus. If paired with classic gold-emblem Tory Burch flats they can a staple outfit for a nice day in class or lunch with my boyfriend, but when paired with gold-sequined Stuart Weitzman peep toe pumps they can be taken into the evening for movie night at the Angelika Film Center. Since a few of the sequins and beads in the bow embellishment on the navy blouse are cool toned, I was able to sparingly incorporate a little silver into my jewelry rather than just sticking to yellow gold.

This section is more beauty than anything, but instead of sticking with the coral pink lip colors I’ve been wearing lately (Laura Mercier’s Pink Dawn is my FAV), I decided to branch out and wear more of a sherry color. I kept my eyes simple with dark brown gel liner and a sweep of a dark peach blush without shimmer.

Green Leopard

Everyone knows that summers in Texas are BLAZING hot. I chose to stay cool today with a sheer light fabric in a unique Green Leopard print. The dress is breezy, soft, and feminine, but still has stand-out abilities. The only downside to this fabric is it will catch every minute bit of wind. Thank goodness the dress has hidden side pockets that I can put my cell phone in to keep the dress down if the wind decides to pay me a visit.

Summer Prep

This outfit screams preparatory, but I love it! I think navy blue goes very well with pale pinks and sometimes I don’t mind kicking back in a preppy outfit. I usually would pair this outfit with my gold-emblem Tory Burch flats, but since these gold glitter heels just arrived this morning, I had to throw them on. By the way, check out the gorgeous stargazer lilies we currently have in my home. They are mammoth! And so beautiful to look at I couldn’t help but have them in my photos.

To top it all off, this outfit can even work for guys! Here’s my boyfriend, Jonathan sporting the same thing. (To be honest, I got the inspiration from him!)

Flower Power

This outfit doesn’t have flowers everywhere, but if you add up the coral flowers on my skirt and the flower pin in my hair, it kind of counts. This outfit is more laid back and relaxed with the cotton fabrics and plain white v-neck. My room isn’t the most fabulous, but it’s full of things that I love and are dear to my heart so I wouldn’t ever trade it. Say hi to MinMin, my panda son :)

I haven’t actually started on this book yet, but it is next on the list! I absolutely LOVED The Alchemist so I can’t wait to dive into this one.
